History and Development of ACD
A Timeline
- Initial workshop: Woods Hole, Massachusetts, November 2-4, 1999, sponsored by the NSF's Office of Polar Program and its program "Russian-American Initiative on Shelf-Land Environments" (RAISE), organized by Jerry Brown (US) and Steve Solomon (Canada) under the auspices of the International Permafrost Association (IPA)
- Arctic Coastal Dynamics (ACD) accepted as an official project of the International Arctic Sciences Committee (IASC) in April 2000.
- First international ACD workshop sponsored by IASC held in Potsdam, Germany, October 18-20, 2000
- Second IASC/IPA-sponsored international ACD workshop held in Potsdam, Germany, November 26-30, 2001
- Third IASC-funded international ACD workshop held in Oslo, Norway, December 2-5, 2002
- Arctic Coastal Dynamics (ACD) accepted as a regional project of the International Geosphere-Biosphere Programme Land-Ocean Interactions in the Coastal Zone (LOICZ) in May 2003
- Fourth IASC-funded international ACD workshop held in St. Petersburg, Russia, November 10-13, 2003
- Fifth IASC-funded international ACD workshop held in Montreal, Canada, October 13-16, 2004
